  • Orlen, one of the largest oil corporations in Central and Eastern Europe, has awarded part of its extension works in the Olefins Complex, the highest investment in Europe’s petrochemical sector of the last 20 years.
  • The project will be developed in consortium with CCECC, its sister company in the CRCC conglomerate, Aldesa’s main investor and the world’s third largest construction group.
  • Aldesa, which has been present in Poland for more than 15 years now, has consolidated its leading position in the sector with this new Oil & Gas contract.

In Poland, Aldesa has signed its most valuable contract ever worth 442.6 million euros (over 1,974 million zlotys). Orlen, a leading oil company in Central and Eastern Europe, has awarded several tasks (in EPC form) to the Aldesa-CCECC consortium, used to expand the Olefins petrochemical complex located in Plock, central Poland. In this way, Aldesa is participating in the largest investment made in Europe’s petrochemical industry over the last 20 years.

Specifically, as part of the K-002 package, Aldesa will take over part of the OSBL (Outside Battery Limits) infrastructure for the Olefin III project, as well as expanding the production plant’s main infrastructure. This includes the building of 18 spherical tanks with total capacity of 27,000 m3, 14 vertical tanks with total capacity of 50,000 m3, two horizontal pressure tanks with total capacity of 5,000 m3 and a cryogenic tank of 16,000 m3. In addition, 60 km of piping will be laid down, civil engineering work completed, as well as sanitary and electrical facilities, amongst other tasks.

The partnership agreement reached with CCECC (China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation), CRCC conglomerate’s sister company, is a clear example of the synergies generated between Aldesa and its main investor. CRCC is the third largest construction group in the world, according to the prestigious ENR Top 250 Global Contractors ranking. It is also ranked 42nd in Fortune Global 500 and 12th amongst “China’s 500 best companies”.

More than 15 years boosting Poland’s infrastructure development

In the railway sector, Aldesa signed its largest contract in early 2022 to reconstruct 50 kilometres of the Elk–Korsze railway line, for 142 million euros (648 million zlotys). Furthermore, it is currently building various sections of Gdansk’s tramway and has implemented a Dynamic Passenger Information System for PKP PLK at 133 stations and stops; it operates as the general contractor of three motorway sections, including sections S19, S6 and S7, and has become a reference in the wind energy field, Oil & Gas sector, ITS and security systems.
