Coalvi wins a new railway project in Spain for 21.8 million euros

Coalvi, Aldesa's subsidiary specialized in construction, repair and modernization of railway works, has been awarded a new contract for the works of the Madrid Suburban Plan, in Spain. This project, with an investment of 21.8 million euros, will approximately extend 10 kilometers of railway network on the C-4B line from Colmenar Viejo to Soto del Real.

With a timeframe of 24 months, the contract has been awarded by Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF) as a joint venture (80% Coalvi, S. A. and 20% Construcciones Instalación y Tracción S. A.). The enlargement of the current platform, the electrification of the new section, the enlargement and modification of the platforms and the construction of the Soto del Real station are some of the actions foreseen in the contract.

In the first phase of the project, the works include the enlargement of embankments, cuttings and various measures to support the current infrastructure, all on the right side of the platform so as not to affect the protected areas of the Upper Manzanares Basin. In addition, the current track will be lifted and a new superstructure will be installed by spreading a new ballast bed, laying the sleepers and laying a new rail. These works will contribute to improving the connection of the area and will provide an opportunity for this structure to accommodate a double track in the future, if necessary.

This new contract obtained in Spain is in addition to other railway awards in the country, such as the construction of the intermodal and logistics platform of Júndiz (Vitoria) and its standard gauge connection to the Atlantic Corridor. The Coalvi-Aldesa tandem is carrying out the construction works of this project, which includes the enlargement of the number of tracks of the technical installation, the creation of a new intermodal module with two buffer tracks and the construction of new road accesses to the intermodal terminal, among other actions.
