CAS joins the Earth Charter reinforcing its commitment to best practices in sustainability

Concesionaria de Autopistas del Sureste (CAS), a subsidiary of Aldesa, adheres to the Earth Charter, joining the global movement towards a more just, sustainable and peaceful world. This annually renewable commitment is aligned with the environmental, social and governance objectives of CAS and represents a boost to best practices in biodiversity and environmental performance, as well as a positive impact on the communities in which the company is present.

The Earth Charter is an international declaration made up of sixteen principles that form an ethical framework of values and principles for sustainable development, and to which CAS subscribes in its four pillars: environmental integrity, social and economic justice, and democracy, non-violence and peace.

The signing ceremony, held at the Forest Nursery on the Arriaga-Ocozocoautla Highway in the State of Chiapas (Mexico) on October 7, was attended by the Director of the Risk Management and Climate Change Research Center of the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas, Dr. Silvia Guadalupe Ramos; the National Focal Point of “The Earth Charter” and a member of the Secretariat of the Earth Charter International, Dr. Mateo Alfredo Castillo Ceja and the Focal Point Coordinator of the State of Chiapas for the Earth Charter, Mr. Eder Fabián Medina Morales. Representing CAS and Aldesa, the General Director of Concessions, Eng. Álvaro Frías, and the Director of CAS, Eng. Javier Rodríguez, among others, attended the event.

CAS has been collaborating in the coordination of highway transportation in the State of Chiapas since 2007, when the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, under the Federal Government, awarded it the construction, operation, exploitation, conservation and maintenance of the 46.5 km long Tuxtla Gutiérrez-San Cristóbal Highway. CAS has also been awarded the Arriaga-Ocozocoautla and Tuxtla Gutiérrez-San Cristóbal Highways. Since the beginning of its activity, the company has been committed to the preservation, conservation and care of the environment, the promotion of human development with emphasis on health care and economic opportunities.
