PRESS RELEASES
Aldesa to build a new High Speed maintenance shop for Renfe in Madrid Norte Complex
Monday, February 03 2020
Renfe has officially
awarded to the UTE formed by Aldesa and Imathia the contract for the execution
of the construction work of the new Fuencarral II High Speed ??rolling stock
maintenance shop and shunting yards of self-propulsion in the Madrid North
Complex, for a value of 65.2 million euros (VAT included) and within 22 months.
In addition to this
new maintenance shop, which is an industrial building on a single plant of
18,690 square meters, two shunting yards will be built to increase the parking
capacity of the trains. On those shunting yards 13,257 meters of track will be
mounted and in the self-propulsion area about 8,300 meters, with 83 track
devices, among which there are detours, crossings and a width changer, which
will allow branching and crossing of the itineraries. All this while
maintaining the operability of a railway complex with more than 7 million passenger
movements between suburban trains, conventional medium distance and High Speed.
The action also
includes new electrification, security and communications facilities, which
must be coordinated with the current facilities in service, which requires a
phased execution so that the operation of the railway complex is not
interrupted at any time.
