Aldesa Takes Lead in Bid for Access Infrastructure to Lubiatowo-Kopalino Nuclear Plant

Wednesday, March 05 2025

Aldesa has secured the top spot in the bidding process for constructing a key section of the national road that will connect to the future Lubiatowo-Kopalino nuclear power plant in Poland. Their proposal, submitted in partnership by Aldesa Construcciones Polska and Aldesa Construcciones, stood out as the most competitive with a bid valued at 199.9 million zlotys.

The project involves building 15 kilometers of new roadway, linking the provincial road DW213 with the Łęczyce junction on the S6. This infrastructure will have strategic significance, enhancing regional mobility and facilitating the transport of materials and personnel to the nuclear plant. Its design will accommodate heavy vehicles needed during both the construction phase and the plant's subsequent operation. Evaluation process and next steps

Achieving the top position in the bidding is just one step in the award process. The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA) is conducting a formal review of the submitted proposals. Once the evaluation and validation are complete, the contract will be signed, marking the start of construction work.

The design, construction, and permit acquisition tasks are expected to be completed within a maximum of 35 months from the contract signing, excluding the winter periods (December 16 to March 15) from the execution timeline.

If the process follows the established schedule, the contract will be signed in the second quarter of 2025, allowing construction to conclude by the second quarter of 2028.

Key Infrastructure for Poland

This road segment is part of a national strategic project to connect the future Lubiatowo-Kopalino nuclear plant with Poland's road network. Building this route will not only enhance logistics for the plant but also improve regional mobility, easing local road congestion and reducing travel times between Trójmiasto and the coastal towns in the Choczewo district.

Additionally, the new infrastructure will enhance road safety and lessen the environmental impact of traffic by minimizing noise, vibrations, and emissions in the area. The road is included in the Polish government's investment program for developing strategic energy infrastructure in the Pomeranian region.

With this project, Aldesa strengthens its presence in Poland, where it is currently executing other strategic contracts in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
