Aldesa, together with Sando Construcciones, completes a new construction milestone in the project of the Nonduermas-Sangonera section of the Murcia-Almeria High Speed Line: the joining of the two sides of a tunnel through the town of Alcantarilla.

The tunnel, almost one kilometer long, is one of the main infrastructures of the high-speed line between the provinces of Murcia and Almería, with an excavation of 56,000 m3 of earth and the use of 37,000 m3 of concrete and 2,700 tons of steel.

The structure of the tunnel has been resolved through the construction of diaphragm walls on top of which an upper concrete slab has been laid on the ground, creating a “false tunnel”. Once this first phase was completed, the tunnel was excavated from each of the two mouths to join the two sides. From now on, Aldesa and Sando will carry out the construction of the lower slab, on which the tracks and sidewalks will be implemented.

The Nonduermas-Sangonera section project also includes a series of future actions such as the construction of a new local train station in Alcantarilla, the remodeling of the track yard of the Murcia Cargas logistics complex, the construction of another “false tunnel” to circumvent the current Chinchilla-Cartagena conventional line and the construction of a viaduct to cross the Rambla de las Salinas.
