Inauguration of the remodeling works of the Ingeniero Juan Gonzalo Wharf executed by Aldesa

The works executed by Aldesa for the improvement and modernization of the Ingeniero Juan Gonzalo Wharf have been officially inaugurated. The company was awarded this project valued at 22 million euros under a contract given by the Port Authority of Huelva, in 2018. This project, with a marked environmental character and improvement purpose of the efficiency of port operations, has aimed to better the pre-existing drainage system to collect rainwater from paved surfaces, avoiding its discharge into the estuary.

The inauguration ceremony, led by the president of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, took place in the actual facilities of the Port of Huelva, in Spain, on February 3, 2022.

Aldesa has carried out, over an area of more than 216,000 m2, the construction of a new rainwater drainage network in which collectors were integrated with settling pits and a new 6,500 m3 stormwater vault designed to regularize the water for its subsequent treatment. The construction of new raw water supply pipes for cleaning and flushing the operating surface of the wharf and the restoration of the electricity and fiber optic pipes were among the other works that were carried out.

With a commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, the premise of this project has been reusing materials and construction waste, so that the materials extracted have been used in the construction of the new pavement, installing a crushing plant on the wharf itself.
