Health and safety in the workplace

The Company's greatest asset is its people, and as a result Health and Safety is key to all it does, and is as important as profitability, quality and production. Aldesa's commitments and guidelines related to the prevention of risks in the workplace are contained in the Health and Safety Policy, which makes the whole organisation responsible for safety management.

Aldesa has obtained AENOR's certification for its System of Management of Security and Labour Health, in accordance with OHSAS 18.001 specifications. This certification not only satisfies the legal requirements, but in addition it establishes the requirements that the organizations must fullfil in order that they could optimize the performance of the System of Management of Security and Labour Health. From the perspective of the personnel, there are minimized the risks associated with the activity that develops the company, obtaining the permanent improvement of the conditions of work and the approximation to the aim of "Zero Accidents ".

As part of the Health and Safety Plan for each project, Aldesa establishes a Safety Plan which must be approved by the safety coordinator before the workplace can be open. In addition, each project must have its own health and safety file containing all documentation relating to the prevention of risks, together with a folder for controlling subcontractors. Health and Safety Committees also act as a communication channel between Aldesa as a communication channel with subcontractors, in which actions, time frames and those responsible for each issue are jointly defined.

Another preventative action introduced by Aldesa has been Site Safety Visits. These visits aim to find any anomalies relating to accident prevention so that they can advise the production line, which in turn can efficiently manage the issue in such a way that it will not recur and can be corrected rapidly.

In addition, Aldesa understands that training workers in the risks they are exposed to in their job is not only a legal requirement, but also a priority. As a result, in addition to an initiation course for all workers on the dangers of the project, Aldesa gives specific courses on risks or activities (working at heights, loads, excavations, etc) together with basic courses on the Prevention of Risks in the Workplace.

To promote the prevention of risks in areas with the highest risk, Aldesa has established an annual Safety in Civil Engineering Prize and a Building Safety Prize; these prizes assess up to 10 parameters, such as documentation, individual and collective protection, organisation, cleanliness, fines, etc... The sum of the points scored on these parameters demonstrates the interest taken in meeting safety regulations on the job.
