Aldesa gets first building contract in Mexico

Monday, June 6, 2011

Construcciones Aldesem S.A. de C.V., the construction company of Aldesa Group in Mexico, has signed a contract worth 13.53 million euros with Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico-GAP, for the execution, in a 17-month period, of the necessary works to complete the Terminal T -4 of San José del Cabo Airport, in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.

The new Terminal Building project, with approximately 20,000 m2 on the ground, includes the execution of foundations, drains, structures and architectural finishes. Also includes electrical installations, air conditioning, access control and security systems, fire detection and audiovisual installations, that will be carry out by Acisa, the Group company specializing in this type of equipment.

Increasing the capacity

Building a new terminal in San Jose del Cabo International Airport responds to increasing air traffic driven largely by tourism development in the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, one of the most exclusive destinations in the country.

GAP, the concessionaire that operates 12 airports throughout the Pacific region of Mexico and is considered the America's largest private operator of airports, believes that only an increase in size and operational capacities will ensure an adequate coverage of services in view of the increase of flights, both domestic and international, predicted for the coming years.

The consolidation of Grupo Aldesa in Mexico

Aldesa currently is advancing in the construction of the section, close to 46 km, El Salto-Villaunión in the Durango-Mazatlan motorway, considered the most important public work in recent years in this country, because of its complexity -26 tunnels and 29 structures have been designed-, as its cost and strategic importance. The construction of that section, tendered by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation of the Federal Government of Mexico, represents an investment of 248.3 million euros.

In addition, the Group is getting new contracts that reinforce its position in the construction sector in this country. Among them its worth to highlight the construction of a stretch of 3 km in the South Diversion of Tuxtla Gutierrez (Chiapas state) and the execution of two tunnels included in the project of the construction of Naucalpan-Toluca motorway, including lighting installations, ventilation and control systems, for 19.6 million euros.
